Warsaw to Host the International Cartographic Conference in 2027

We are proud to announce that Warsaw has been selected as the host city for the International Cartographic Conference (ICC) in July 2027.

The decision was announced during this year’s 32nd edition of the Conference, held from August 17–22, 2025, in Vancouver, Canada. This prestigious event, organized every two years by the International Cartographic Association (ICA), gathered around 750 participants from all over the world, including a strong Polish delegation of 30 members.

During the extraordinary ICA General Assembly, the bid submitted by the Polish cartographic community in 2023 was accepted almost unanimously. The leaders of the Polish initiative are the University of Warsaw, Warsaw University of Technology, and the Association of Polish Surveyors, in cooperation with other institutions, including the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography. The Polish bid was presented during the Congress by Dr. habil. Izabela Gołębiowska, Professor at the University of Warsaw, and Dr. habil. Eng. Dariusz Gotlib, Professor at the Warsaw University of Technology. The project was also supported by the Warsaw Tourist Organization, the Polish Tourism Organization / Poland Convention Bureau, and the company Symposium Cracoviense, which actively participated in preparations at every stage.

This will be the second time in history that Poland hosts this prestigious event – the ICC was first held in Warsaw in 1982. Hosting the Conference in 2027 is not only a great honor but also a unique opportunity to promote Poland internationally – as a modern country, open to innovation and an active participant in global discussions on the future of cartography, geovisualization, and geoinformation technologies.

The International Cartographic Conference is the world’s most important platform for knowledge exchange, showcasing the latest achievements in cartography, geoinformation, spatial analysis technologies, and geovisualization. The event is accompanied by the ICA General Assembly, attended by representatives of member countries of this international organization, which brings together scientific, administrative, and commercial institutions.

Organizing ICC2027 in Warsaw is an ambitious logistical and scientific challenge, but also a tremendous opportunity for Polish researchers, students, and practitioners – to present their own achievements, build international relations, and further strengthen the national cartographic and geoinformation community.

Warsaw already invites the world to join in drawing the maps of the future.
