FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Warsaw

In 2026, Warsaw will become the world capital of 3×3 basketball – the dynamic, street-style version of the sport – as it hosts the FIBA 3×3 World Cup for both men and women. Since its Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games, 3×3 basketball has been capturing the hearts of fans and revolutionizing the sports world with its speed, intensity, and unique character.

“In June 2026, Warsaw will be the stage for thrilling sports excitement centered around 3×3 basketball. In front of the Palace of Culture and Science, the best national teams – both women’s and men’s – will compete for World Championship medals! Warsaw has already proven it can host major tournaments. Now it’s time for something new. It’s time for Warsaw to host the most important 3×3 tournament in the world,” said Renata Kaznowska, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw.

The FIBA 3×3 World Cup is not only a battle for gold – it’s a festival of energy, youth, and urban lifestyle. The capital will transform into a global hub of street sports, attracting crowds, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, and inspiring young people. A competition arena will be built in front of the Palace of Culture and Science, accompanied by additional attractions for both younger and older sports fans.

“Poland and Warsaw are no coincidence. Polish athletes, thanks to their successes, have become pioneers of the new 3×3 basketball movement in Europe. I promise the people of Warsaw that in 2026 we will bring the very best of urban basketball to this city!” said Andreas Zagklis, Secretary General of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

Poland among the world’s best

Poland’s national 3×3 teams have consistently ranked among the top in the world, achieving significant success. The men’s team has competed in the Olympic Games twice (in Tokyo and Paris), and earned bronze medals at the World Cup in 2019, the European Championships in 2021, and the European Games in 2023, as well as gold at the U23 World Cup in 2022. The women’s team won bronze at the 2022 European Championships and silver at the U23 World Cup in 2023.

“3×3 basketball originated from popular streetball, and has now become a serious Olympic sport. What’s more, its exciting nature is making it increasingly popular. For several years now, we’ve seen great results in this discipline, and both our men’s and women’s teams are growing rapidly. We are proud that this top-tier event – the World Cup – is coming to Warsaw. As a modern capital city, Warsaw will be the perfect host,” said Grzegorz Bachański, President of the Polish Basketball Association.
