Warsaw hosts EURO 2012 draw of qualifying groups

Warsaw’s Sala Kongresowa (Congress Hall) in the Palace of Culture and Science will host the group qualifications draw for the Euro2012 on 7th February 2010. High profile personalities from European politics and sport will take part in the event chaired by the president of UEFA – Michel Platini. The ceremony will be conducted by the UEFA General Secretary - Gianni Infantino.

Ambassadors from Poland and Ukraine, responsible for the allocation of teams to individual groups, will take part in the UEFA European Football Championship 2012 draw. Presidents and prime ministers of EURO 2012 hosting countries were also invited to the ceremony. The event will be attended by the representatives of 53 European football federations, football stars and sponsors. On Saturday a dinner for 600 participants is planned.

The ceremony of the draw will be held in the city centre, in the Palace of Culture and Science (PKiN) which, as a result of numerous advantages and unique history, is often said to be one of the most popular venues in Warsaw for organizing congresses, international conferences, gallas as well as cultural and sport events. The representatives of PKiN have assured that everything for the reception of guests is ready.

On 6th February Warsaw Tourist Office is organizing two trips for the journalists who will participate in the ceremony. One group will follow the route of infrastructure investments for the UEFA Euro 2012, whereas the other route will lead along the well-known tourist attractions in Warsaw.
